The Nylon Project

www.thenylonproject1.com

“Homelessness in NYC have hit record highs with a 115 percent increase over the past two decades and it’s time for all of us to unite and try to make a change. This project may not be the solution, however, it’s one step closer towards turning the world into a better place”, says Jordana Guimaraes – founder of “The NYLON Project”.

The initial goal of this project is to give out 1,500 meals starting on December 1st, 2016 up until February 7th, 2017. Each person who receives a meal, will tell us their story of how they wound up on the streets and this will be shared via an IG page which will entice everyone who gives a meal to start sharing their stories with us and with this, creating a community of people helping people.

Jordana Guimaraes, founder of ACL PR & Marketing, has worked in the fashion/lifestyle industries for over 15 years. Her events have raised awareness and funds for numerous causes. Guimaraes founded The NYLON Project in December of 2016 with a mission to “give a face to homelessness” worldwide. Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, this issue been a lifelong concern of hers. Launched in her current base- New York City – it was an overnight success. The project is compiled of many fashion/entertainment initiatives, utilizing celebrities, influencers, fashion, beauty and lifestyle brands, to create a viral #ItCanBeYou campaign.

– DOMESTIC VIOLENCE –

Haven of Light

www.havenoflightint.org

Domestic violence is the willful intimidation, physical assault, battery, sexual assault, and/or other abusive behavior as part of a systematic pattern of power and control perpetrated by one intimate partner against another. It includes physical violence, sexual violence, psychological violence, and emotional abuse. The frequency and severity of domestic violence can vary dramatically; however, the one constant component of domestic violence is one partner’s consistent efforts to maintain power and control over the other.

Domestic violence is an epidemic affecting individuals in every community, regardless of age, economic status, sexual orientation, gender, race, religion, or nationality. It is often accompanied by emotionally abusive and controlling behavior that is only a fraction of a systematic pattern of dominance and control. Domestic violence can result in physical injury, psychological trauma, and in severe cases, even death. The devastating physical, emotional, and psychological consequences of domestic violence can cross generations and last a lifetime.

On average 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have been victims of (some form of) physical violence by an intimate partner within their lifetime.

– CANCER –
